Orissa seeks central status for Sambalpur varsity
Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the State Government has submitted a proposal, received from the Sambalpur University, to the Centre for providing it the central university status. As the university is serving the most backward areas of Kalahandi, Balangir, Koraput and Sundargarh districts, there is no reason for the Union Government to disagree with the proposal, Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof PC Tripathy told reporters. With limited resources, the university is doing its best to serve the backward areas by opening new courses to help the students meet the challenges in the new age, he said.
